Dearest Friends,
We have some sad news. On Nov. 16/17 (Michael's 15th Birthday) we nearly lost our house to a fire. We are all safe, just a little shaken up. The fire started between the walls of the fire place and smoldered there while we slept. At 1:30 am the smoke detectors woke us up and the thick smoke had already taken over the playroom/music area downstairs. Although connected to an alarm central, they chose to IGNORE the signal. So Ron called 911 and used the extinguisher as best he could and I pressed the panic button (which the alarm company also chose to ignore!!!) Within 7 minutes we had 30 firemen on the scene. And they were busy putting axes into our house as we watched from outside. They managed to save it all since 6 more minutes and the whole house would have been toast!!!!!! Presently the house is under severe reconstruction and all our cloths and furniture are being cleaned. WE are staying in a motel and trying to see the good in it all. We are all OK (Physically at least!!!!). Thanks to all who have already sent their best regards and please forgive the lack of Christmas Cards this year.
Wishing you all a very Happy Holiday Season.
Charlotte
PS. AMNICON (formally FM security) IS the incompetent alarm company we now NO LONGER DEAL WITH!!!!
