Hello,
I'm Anthony Harrup, I was at Edron (I was about to say "studied at") from 1973 to 1979.
Now I'm married with two children, living in Mexico City.
We were frequent beneficiaries of the Tolsoneta - rides down to Miguel Angel de Quevedo, and after school parties Gustave would take us home all the way across town. He always was the nicest of people, he also built the goals for the playground. A special greeting to the Tolsons, then.
One of my fondest memories is ofthe Anglos vs Latinos end of term football matches originally started by my older brother Leslie. The Latinos won more often than they lost.(Home ground advantage). Here are some of the players: Latinos: Gustave, Jacques Genoves, Gonzalo Garcia, Billy Morales, MarcoAntonio (surname?). Anglos: Stephane Lacor (co-opted for the cause)Anthony Harrup, Gerald Harrup, Eric Pearse (Lit teacher), StephenMelia.
In sixth form, I started a chess craze. I organized a tournament and was sure I would win, and got knocked out by a kid from 2nd or 3rd form. Stephane was the first one to own a chess computer (a big dealback then). He also became the best player in school ... maybe.
I was a close friend of Peter Finlay. We were pretty obnoxious, I suppose, but I don't remember discussing plans to blow up the moon.
Finally, I think the perfidious rugby fad was the result of a "complo" by the Celt and Druid sports masters at Greengates who didn'tknow the rules of football.
Best regards to all,
Anthony
