Fellow Edronites --
My sister Carla pointed me in this direction of this blog and it is great to re-connect with the Edron community. I remember my days and friends from Edron with great affection. For some reason, the times that we got into trouble are the most salient, and there are many memories to draw from... I have fond memories of many of you - Axbal Zavala (Mr. James Bond), Michael Kirsebaum (will never forget tea at your Grandma's house), Roberto Ayala (swimming sensation), Fikre Ayele (always a blast), Jerome (one of the most assertive people I've ever met), Carmen (sorry about hitting you with that bean bag) and a whole of bunch others that will come to me soon... I also remember a number of teachers that left an imprint (for better or worse): Ms. McHenry, Mr. Foulkes, Ms. Foulkes, Mr. and Mrs. David, Mr. Gilchrist, Madame Marmasse...
Not to bore you with unnecessary detail, but here's a thumbnail - I left Edron in 1980 to attend the American School. After four fun filled years at UT Austin (Hook ‘Em!), I came back to Mexico and worked for two years at an ad agency. After B School, I spent 7 years in corporate America (PepsiCo) and finally realized that it wasn't my gig when I saw a fifty year old VP walking around with a Chester Cheetah polo shirt . After a number of entrepreneurial ventures - some of which thankfully worked well and others that bombed spectacularly - and two years playing the management consultant (it is very hard to get your wife pregnant if you're never home) I joined my good friend's David Wiser’s retained search firm. So, if there are any senior level Marketers out there that are looking for a new opportunity, please drop me a line.
I have been happily married to my beautiful wife Lulu (regia de Monterrey) for 15 years, and we have two awesome little boys: Alex aged six and Christian aged 10 months. We live in Austin, TX, so feel free to look me up if you ever come this way - we'll do it the Austin way by spending the afternoon wakeboarding on Lake Travis.
Saludos,
Phil
